How to use a remailer:
1. Logon to your Anonymous.To email account. If you do not yet have your own free email account, sign up for free!

2. Click "Compose" to create a new message.

3. In the "To:" field, enter the address of the remailer you wish to use. We will use "mix@hyperreal.art.pl" for our example. There are more remailers you can experiment with on the bottom of this page.

4. Format the body of your message to look like this:

 :: 
 Anon-To: jill@univ.edu

 ## 
 Subject: -subject of your message-

 Your anonymous message goes here. 
 

If done correctly, the above message would be delivered anonymously to jill@univ.edu. All headers from the original message would be removed. The person recieving the message would not be able to tell who sent the message nor would she be able to respond to the message. 

A few notes about the above example: 

• The two number signs ("##") signal the beginning of the message. Everything after this point will be sent to the recipient speicified on the "Anon-To:" line. 
• The two colons ("::") mark the beginning of the extra headers that the remailer needs to send your message. Leaving these out will result in an error. 
• It is suggested that you send a test message to yourself first to make sure you understand all the aspects of using this remailer.

 

 

New! How to anonymously post to a newsgroup:

You can anonymously post to a newsgroup using almost the same format as sending a regular email message. All you have to do is change Anon-To: to Anon-Post-To:. The completed body of your message would look something like this:  ::   Anon-Post-To: alt.test  ##   Subject: -subject of your message-  Your anonymous message goes here.    This message, of course, should be sent to the remailer you wish to use. It would be delivered to alt.test or whatever newsgroup you desire. Follow the same steps as sending anonymous email, above, when posting to a newsgroup.
